Four pearls of the Golden Ring
In this article we will tell you about another four cities of the famous Golden Ring of Russia. These cities are very old and beautiful and it’s certainly necessary to be there if you come to Russia.
The main attractions of Vladimir:
1) The fortress Golden Gates (1158-64) – with white-stone triumphal arch, and the Gate Church above (1469).
Assumption (Uspensky) Cathedral (1158-60). In the interior this Cathedral there are the fragments of frescoes of XII-XIII centuries and famous works of Andrey Rublev and Daniil Cherny.
Demetrius (Dmitrovsky) Cathedral (1194-97), with rich decorative carvings on the facade.
There are total of 239 state-protected buildings of XVIII-XIX centuries in Vladimir.
Rostov is the pearl of the Golden Ring of Russia. This is one of the major centers of tourism and pilgrimage. Rostov is included in the special program of cooperation between the Council of Europe and Russia to preserve historical and cultural heritage.
One of the most important monuments in Rostov is the landscape of the lake Nero basin and the surrounding area, attracted people for years. Classics of Russian ancient architecture is the Rostov’s Kremlin.
Heritage of World Culture are Rostov chimes – a unique set of musical works of XVII-XIX centuries, inseparable from the wonderful musical instrument – the famous Rostov belfry. Each of its 13 bells, from the largest, weighing 2000 pounds (32 tons), to the smallest, has its own special touch.
On the western outskirts of the city, on the shores of Lake Nero, it is a beautiful ensemble of Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery. Panorama Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery with a beautiful combination of different styles of architectural forms – complete pseudo-Gothic towers, Baroque and classical completion of Churches – gives the impression of a miracle fairy-city, perfectly inscribed in Priozernaya landscape.
The city of Pereslavl has six monasteries. Transfiguration Cathedral is one of the first five white stone temples of the North-Eastern Russia. The cathedral was baptized many Pereslavl princes, including, probably, Alexander Nevsky, who was born in Pereslavl in 1220.
In XIII-XIV centuries Transfiguration Cathedral was the burial place of Pereslavl appanage princes.
One fo the most wonderful building in Sergiev Posad is Trinity-St monastery. The ensemble of the monastery includes more than 50 buildings used for various purposes.
The iconostasis of the cathedral painted famous Russian icon painters Andrei Rublev and Daniil Black. Here has been written the famous Rublev’s icon “Holy Trinity”.
